Brand voice and tone: the foundation of consistent messaging

·5 min read

Brand voice is your brand's personality, consistent across contexts. Tone is how you adapt that voice: formal in a compliance document, friendly in social media. Both need to be documented and governed.

Research shows that voice and messaging guidelines are central to brand consistency. They cover how you speak (vocabulary, sentence structure, humour) and what you stand for (values, positioning). When AI tools generate content, they need this context to stay on-brand.

Document voice with examples: "We say X, not Y." Include do's and don'ts. Make it machine-readable so AI can apply it. Then monitor output: automated checks can flag tone drift before publication.

BrandHalo stores voice and tone in brand profiles that flow directly into ChatGPT, Claude, and Copilot, so every AI-generated piece reflects your brand from the start.
